---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Problems setting up PowerMail in OS 10.11 From: "Winston Weinmann" <weinm...@mindspring.com> Date: Sat, 9 Apr 2016 17:17:17 -0400 Having these problems with setting up PowerMail in Mac OS 10.11: 1. PowerMail does not hold onto my registration. Every time it re-opens it's in trial mode and I have to re-enter the registration code. 2. I cannot get PowerMail to connect to Gmail. I have tried using Gmail's one-time application password, tried using POP and tried using IMAP, and it will not connect. PowerMail is still working fine in Mac OS 10.4 to connect to Google via POP on my old computer. I have checked and rechecked the settings multiple times. Apple Mail can connect to Gmail. This is a fresh install of PowerMail, on a recently set up 2010 MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.11.3. PowerMail version 6.2.1 build 4668 Any suggestions? Thanks. - Winston Weinmann ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Problems setting up PowerMail in OS 10.11 From: "CTM Development" <ctm-feedb...@ctmdev.com> Date: Sat, 9 Apr 2016 23:23:34 +0200 Hello, On 1., you need to drag your PMKey file onto the application - typing in the code will not suffice. On 2. if you have a working setup on a previous Mac, copy the entire PowerMail Files folder to the new Mac, then drag the PowerMail Message database onto the newly installed application - a safer choice than having to reenter configuration data for GMail which has changed policies many times since the 10.4 days. As you sent this I found the instructions to use the PMKey in the registration email from CTM that I'd saved. I had in the meantime deleted the new (temporary) PowerMail Files folder and reinstalled PowerMail on the new Mac. I copied the PMKey from the old Mac to the new one, then dragged it onto the PM icon in the dock. That seems to have gotten the registration done. After I got the PMKey in place, I put the Gmail settings back in. First attempt to connect gave me a message that I needed an application specific password from Gmail. I had not seen this on previous attempts. I got one, and after changing the password to the application specific password, Gmail is now working. I don't yet want to copy over my old PowerMail files folder, as I want to experiment with IMAP. I've been using POP up to now. I am continuing to use PowerMail on 10.4 until I fully shift over to the newer Mac. Thanks for the help. - Winston Weinmann CTM Development wrote: >Hello, > >On 1., you need to drag your PMKey file onto the application - typing in >the code will not suffice. > >On 2. if you have a working setup on a previous Mac, copy the entire >PowerMail Files folder to the new Mac, then drag the PowerMail Message >database onto the newly installed application - a safer choice than >having to reenter configuration data for GMail which has changed >policies many times since the 10.4 days. > >Regards, > >jean michel/ctm qa > >> On Apr 9, 2016, at 11:17 PM, Winston Weinmann ><weinm...@mindspring.com> wrote: >> >> Having these problems with setting up PowerMail in Mac OS 10.11: >> >> 1.
