Cooper Nuclear Station trains workers to maintain these in close proximity of
each other in RAD Practical Training. We have procedural guidance to keep them
within a hand width. When a bag is used it is for contamination control
purpose only, when PCs are worn that would cover these devices, they are placed
into a bag attached to the outside front torso or re-located to the most
appropriate location, i.e. head or back, etc.

Subject: Powernet: TLD and ED worn in close proximity

Columbia requests the following information.

1) Do you use a device such as a geometry card or bag to ensure the TLD and
electronic dosimeter (ED) are worn in close proximity on the worker?

2) On what types of jobs do you require the use of this device, e.g., only
contaminated areas where PCs (or lab coats) are worn, work involving dose
gradients, every time an ED is worn, etc.?

Thank you in advance.
