For on-shift dose assessment, the Diablo Canyon Operations Work Control Shift Foreman uses a simplified dose assessment computer program that auto polls data from onsite met towers and gaseous rad effluent monitors. He is responsible for dose assessment until relieved by the EOF dose assessor. This simplified computer program is "backed up" with a manual calculation procedure that can either use real data from met and effluent instrumentation as input, or use default X/Q values instead of met data and use default release rates for different specific types of accidents. We do not support any other site for on-shift dose assessment, nor do we rely on another site for our on-shift dose assessment We are moving toward the ability for the dose assessor to use MIDAS on a laptop as a stand alone with manual input along with the ability to remote access auto input data for MIDAS over DCPP LAN at any Diablo Canyon facility.
