Subject: Powernet: Remote Monitoring Infrastructure Question

Palo Verde requests information on the following:

Palo Verde is currently planning upgrades to our remote monitoring
capabilities. Presently, most of our efforts have been limited
installations that are essentially "temporary" that is not considered a
permanent plant modification. This is especially true for our efforts
done in Containment Buildings during refueling outages where all
equipment is brought in and then removed. Our "temporary" installations
consist primarily of monitoring of filters and liquid radwaste tanks and
components.

With that in mind, Palo Verde would like to know:

1. Have you installed any permanent infrastructure, e.g., fiber
optics, coaxial cable, communications systems, etc., used to support
remote monitoring efforts at your station?

Yes

If yes, could you provide some additional information such as:

* What buildings (e.g., Containment, Fuel, Auxiliary, Radwaste)
if any have you installed permanent infrastructure to support remote
monitoring equipment.

Reactor Building 12 original, 36 more ran 2009

Drywell 12 to each DW cabinet, none permanently
installed inside.

Refuel Floor 12 original, 36 more ran 2009

Rad Waste 12 ran 2010

Turbine Building 36 ran in 2009

A brief description such as: Aux Bldg, fiber run, limited access to
certain rooms, etc. will suffice.

* What was your cost range for all installations e.g., 10 to 20
million, it doesn't have to be too specific.

$150k T&M, no mods, done using Fee-air procedure, purchased fiber, LOE
for EM to run

2. If no, do you have any plans to install permanent infrastructure
to support remote monitoring in the future?

Thanks, Seth.
