Although we have been utilizing NEI RPT-1 through RPT-15 together with NE
Utilities Exam to qualify contractor RP techs for several years, someone only
recently brought it to everyone’s attention that there is not an explicit “RPT”
qual for operation of “neutron surveys meters and underwater survey meters”
specifically excluded under RPT-1. Obviously proficiency using these types of
instruments is required in order to perform Job Coverage (RPT-8) and/or High
Risk Job Coverage (RPT-9).

Does your plant use a process other than that described above to qualify
contract RP technicians used during refueling outages? Please describe process
if applicable.

If not, how do you account for the need for contract RP technicians to perform
pre-Dive underwater surveys or perform neutron surveys in support of dry fuel
storage or power entries?
