Duke Energy would appreciate your response to the following question
concerning safety harnesses:

* How many harnesses are in normal issue inventory (not including
outages or major projects)?

On the order of 100, we have a lot of construction personnel working in
the RCA in support of Unit-2.

* Do you use separate harnesses for clean areas vs. contaminated
areas?

Try to use contaminated harnesses in contaminated area separate from
general use to the most extent.

* What are the decon techniques used for harnesses?

Survey harnesses out, if smearable contamination or fixed contamination
great 4500 cpm then they are sent to laundry.

* What is activity limit for releasing harnesses back to normal
issue inventory?

Same as above

* Are harnesses bagged for contamination control purposes when
awaiting issue?

No

* Have you had PCEs that can be directly attributed to harnesses?

Review of the last three years showed no PCEs related to harnesses.

* What is the percentage of clean area PCEs that you typically
see annually?

* What has been the main initiative in reducing clean area PCEs?

* Is protective clothing routinely used in clean areas to prevent
