Thank you for the responses to my benchmark. In summary, There were 8 responders. * In response to the question regarding the use of turnstiles at high-traffic CA exits to ensure worker do not leave their EDs at the SOP: o 4 responses stated their site uses turnstiles at high traffic CA exits. The turnstile at one site only detects the presence of an ED o 4 responses do not use turnstiles at the CA exit o 1 site utilizes turnstiles at the dress-out area exit to ensure workers have their ED * There were other very worthwhile practices noted: o Two sites staff the high-traffic CA exit areas 24/7 to assist works, provide coaching, and reinforce undress sequence. o One site has instructions printed on the SOP with an area designated for placing the ED while doffing o One site has the worker place their ED on a tray o One site uses baskets on stanchions to place the ED while doffing rather than placing it on the floor or SOP o One site uses additional posting in the area as a reminder as well as easels at the Exit areas asking workers if they have their EDs * In general, posting of instructions, RWT training, and training specific to ED removal were all noted practices.
Conclusion: A good practice would include: * Provide training specifically on how to handle the ED during doffing * Have a designated location to place the ED during doffing; preferably on a stand or stanchion * Provide additional signage such as easels to ask works if they have their EDs * Utilize turnstiles to at least detect the presence of the ED at the CA exit Again, Thanks for the responses Scott Huneycutt Xcel Energy | Responsible By Nature Senior Health Physicist Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant 2807 West County Road 75, Monticello, MN 55362 P: 763.295.1380 F: 763.295.1225 E: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> ________________________________________________ <blocked::blocked::http://www.xcelenergy.com/>XCELENERGY.COM<http://www.xcelenergy.com/> Please consider the environment before printing this email
