Subject: Powernet: Anticipated Dose Rate Alarms

As we work to fully adopt INPO 05-008, recommendations for dose rate alarms,
Duke Energy has increased the briefing frequency for Anticipated Dose rate
alarms. As a result we have experienced an increase in the number of
anticipated dose rate alarms.

Can you please share how many anticipated dose rate alarms you may have
experienced in the past year and / or outage period?

For Duke Energy in 2011:

CNS Anticipated Alarms---418 Unexpected Alarms---17
MNS Anticipated Alarms--- 83 Unexpected Alarms---10
ONS Anticipated Alarms--- 69 Unexpected Alarms--- 8
