At Monticello, we survey the ISFSI on a semiannual basis.

The frequency is based on prudence (10CFR20.1501). Our ISFSI Tech Specs do not
require routine surveys.

Subject: Powernet: Quick Benchmark on ISFSI Survey Frequency

Currently, Palo Verde surveys our Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation
(ISFSI) on a quarterly basis. However, we are considering reducing this
frequency to semi-annual to coincide with the completion of each scheduled
semi-annual dry cask storage campaign. The ISFSI is visually monitored each
shift by Members of Security, each cask has a leak detection system with alarm,
and a review of the past 12 years of surveys shows that radiological conditions
only change with the addition of casks to the storage pad.

Question: Palo Verde would like to know what survey periodicity, e.g.,
quarterly, semi-annually, etc., that you use for performing ISFSI surveys?

What basis did you use to determine survey frequency, e.g., tied to a
regulatory commitment (10 CFR Part 72), UFSAR, 05-008?
