Dresden is in the process of changing the current station scheduling database from Project View (PV) to P6. As PV is an Oracle database, we have been successful using the data in PV via ODBC connections to import data into an MS Access database, and using the durations, resources, etc. to calculate estimates for the work activities. As I understand it, P6 does not allow ODBC connections. Not having much other info about P6 at this time, we are uncertain what the ramifications on our estimating process is going to be. If the data is available via Excel, or some other spreadsheet, at least it could be imported and manipulated, even if it is adding an extra step.
My question is does anybody else have any experience with P6, as far as importing data from the station schedule to use in the exposure estimating process? Any help, contact info, etc. would be appreciated.
