STP uses an in-house manufactured device using a Sr-90 source for ion chamber response checks. It's about as big as pie plate made of Plexiglas with a rotating shield to allow response checking on all scales.

Are there any utilities that have an alternate source used to check instruments in the field during outages, such as a portable "slide source" using a Sr90 (or other) beta source?
