HNP uses a mini-cell system ASCOM DECT is 1900 MHz with .9 mW output. This
system is used on line and during outages. During outages additional equipment
brought in containment with repeaters to support system. Most plant staff uses
as primary communications. Most Operators, RPs, Maintenance and Contract
personnel have the phones. Our paging system is off limits to all except for
emergencies which has broadened the use of these cell phones. RP Supervision
stresses that all RP personnel in the field carry these phones in order to be
reached.

Subject: Powernet: wireless communication

If you have a site wide (including power block) wireless phone communication
system, would you please tell me what system (Vocera, Nextel, Verizon, etc.) is
being used. Do plant operators use this system as primary communication method
during normal plant operations? Thanks, Benjy
