From Ginna procedure governing stay time usage:

WHEN work area dose rates are greater than 1.5 Rem/hr OR WHEN a single entry
into work area is expected to result in while body dose of greater than OR
equal to 500 mRem, THEN PERFORM stay time calculations on Attachment 3 (OR
equivalent spreadsheet approved by RP Supervision)

1. RMS should be used for Remote Continuous Coverage.
2. PRINT all stay time calculation sheets for review.
3. Stay times may be re-calculated during job, based on workers remaining RWP
dose. A new spreadsheet calculation SHALL be performed AND printed for review.
4. USE Attachment 4 (OR equivalent spreadsheet approved by RP supervision) for
documenting time keeping.
5. IF RMS is unavailable, THEN ESTABLISH continuous RP coverage AND stay times
to ensure compliance with RWP limits.
6. IF RMS fails while being utilized as Remote Continuous Coverage while
workers are in work area, THEN INSTRUCT workers to exit area if the connection
cannot be restored within the following time (unless otherwise noted on RWP):
∙IF working in dose rates ≤1500 mRem/hr, 5 minutes.
∙IF working in dose rates >1500 mRem/hr, 1 minute.

Subject: Powernet: Stay Time Requirements

We are working on INPO AFI responses would like to see what other utilities are
using for stay time requirements.

Browns Ferry Currently uses the following:
________________________________
Entry into areas which have radiation dose rates such that an individual may
receive greater than 1,000 mrem in one hour as measured at 30 centimeters from
the source or surface the radiation penetrates, but less than VHRA dose rates,
requires an approved RWP which specifies the dose rates in the work area(s) and
maximum allowable stay time(s) for individuals in the area.

Continuous coverage or remote surveillance (such as a closed circuit TV) by RP
field operations personnel responsible for positive exposure control of the
activities being performed in the area may be substituted for the RWP stay time
requirement except when:

500 mrem/entry exposure is expected

Or

Work area dose rates (at 30 cm) are greater than 1.5 Rem/hour.
