Columbia's guideline is Direct-reading dosimeters (DRDs) should be read
immediately
upon issue, every 15 to 20 minutes when in a radiation area, and upon exit from
the RCA.
They should be read more often when in higher dose rate areas or where dose
rates could
change quickly.

read the Electronic Dosimeter

At Fort Calhoun we train the workers to check their EAD's every 15 minutes in
RA's and more often in HRA's. Although we haven't set a procedure bound
frequency for HRA's, the standard is every 5 minutes.
