Callaway currently tests the ability of workers to hear the basic ED alarm
during the annual "whole body count". Access Control Software is flagged for
those personnel who cannot hear the basic ED alarm, and the worker is required
to use a High Noise Adapter with each ED use. The Access Control Software has
a confirmation screen each entry transaction that the worker makes to verify
they are wearing a high noise adapter on their ED.

With the plan to eliminate annual whole body counts on the "drawing board", we
do not yet have a plan in place how this testing will be completed going
forward.

High noise adapters are required for all work in high noise areas involving
High Radiation Area access. This is controlled by RWP.

Subject: Powernet: ED Alarm Awareness

Duke Energy would like to know how other sites are meeting the INPO 05-008
requirement to ensure workers are aware of ED alarms in high noise areas and
the requirement to ensure that workers do not have hearing loss that would
impede their ability to hear the alarms.

Thanks in advance for your reply.
