Diablo Canyon historically has used Eberline SPINGs a as continuous air
monitors in various parts of the auxiliary building, Fuel handling building,
and the containment penetration area building, with remote readout of each of
the SPINGs detectors to a SPING panel at our RCA access facility.

We are now down to 2 SPINGs, one in each Penetration Area and have a project to
replace them with similar particulate, Iodine, and noble gas monitors. This is
just to sample the area atmosphere; it is not an effluent path monitor such as
the P, I, and NG monitors on our auxiliary building plant vent.

Bench Mark QUESTIONs:

Has you plant ever used this type of full spectrum (P, I, NG) continuous air
monitoring for an "area" of your plant?

If yes, do you still have them, and what areas of the plant are you monitoring?

If you still have them, are they the original instruments or have you replaced
them?
