Millstone Power Station allows newly hired technicians to work under
qualifications as a Station Radiation Protection Technician (job coverage)
based on prior qualifications if approved by the Training Review Board until
the qualification manuals are completed. An individualized training plan is
created with milestones and schedules. Individual task qualifications such as
count room operations are tracked individually on our matrix.

Subject: Powernet: Plants Using NEI 03-04 Guidelines

Duke Energy Progress Brunswick site would appreciate feedback from users of the
NEI 03-04, Guidelines for Plant Access and Other Standardized Shared Training
Courses and Evaluations- Appendix D, as the tool for qualifying supplemental
Radiation Protection Technicians (RPTs) as follows:
If a supplemental worker is employed at your site under RPTs and subsequently
becomes an in-house technician during the employment period, does the
individual become unqualified at the time of hiring in-house or is there a
grace period for completing training equivalencies exemptions or some other
method for qualification?
