I don't know how innovative this is by comparison but are some things we have
done:

- We try to have some sort of DLA with every Continuing Training
session (typically 2/year). The techs and supvs would much rather be out of
their seats for training.

- We attempt to combine training with Maint and Ops when possible,
unfortunately this doesn't happen not as much as we'd like but we are trying to
make it more often.

- We use Q-Track to simulate actual dose rate meter indications for
contract RP tech QVEP and RP house tech DLAs.

- We perform remote High Risk coverage by setting up a High Risk
activity in another part of our training center and cover it with GEDDS, Telex
and our camera system.

- I assign at least one technician as an SME for each lesson plan
covered in our Continuing Training cycles. The tech doesn't write the lesson
plan but works with the instructor to modify the lesson plan so the lesson plan
covers what the techs want to learn. This eliminates the "same old lesson plan"
being repeated as it comes back around every few years. For new training
topics, SMEs work with training to ensure the training hits the mark and isn't
covered in too much fluff.

- We send techs to User Group Meetings to take advantage of training
offered during them (Mirion, Ludlum...).

- We schedule specialized training on and off-site (Rolls-Royce
(cameras/radios), PAO testing...)

Hope this helps... but I'd think most all of you are doing these as well.

All -

This is a long shot but we are asking anyway - has anyone looked at revising
their RP technician training program to include some really innovative training
techniques? If yes, can you share?

We are interested in interactive video programs, training seminars, and
anything else you can offer.

Thanks,

Linda Parlatore
