Am requesting that the following survey request be distributed to the BWR RP /
ALARA Group for review and response. Would appreciate any response sent
directly to myself.

Survey Request From Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant:

BFN Engineering is reviewing the Radiation Protection Departments installation
of CCTV and Audio remote monitoring equipment. Historically (1998 - 2008), BFN
Engineering reviewed for approval every new CCTV camera installation request
but after 10 years of reviews, determined that RP could responsibly control the
CCTV and Audio remote monitoring equipment. Now, control of the cabling
(fiber, coax, power) for these cameras is being questioned.

1. Does your site recognize RP CCTV / Audio system remote monitoring
equipment (cameras and cabling) as temporary or permanent equipment?

2. Does your site have a permanent infrastructure (fiber optic, coax, CAT 5
cabling, etc. installed in conduit) or a temporary infrastructure (fiber optic,
coax, CAT 5 cabling, etc. connected to various secure supports) to support CCTV
/ Audio system remote monitoring in the Turbine Building?

3. Does your site have a permanent infrastructure (fiber optic, coax, CAT 5
cabling, etc. installed in conduit) or a temporary infrastructure (fiber optic,
coax, CAT 5 cabling, etc. connected to various secure supports) to support CCTV
/ Audio system remote monitoring in the Reactor Building?

4. Does your site require Engineering review and approval of new CCTV
cameras / cabling for outages / non-outages?

5. Does your site have any special controls for CCTV equipment camera or
cabling?

Browns Ferry procedures currently identify the RP CCTV / Audio system as
temporary equipment whose installation and removal is controlled through a
Radiation Protection procedure, and tracked through RP databases. We maintain
>200 CCTV cameras in our reactor and turbine buildings to monitor plant
equipment, work, etc.
