Yea...they did ask us to do that. Not surprisingly, a gas-proportional (Argos 5 A/B in our case) has very poor gamma sensitivity - the specification sheets indicate < 1% gamma efficiency. It took about 3,000 nCi of Cs137 (equivalent to around 10 ALI of our mix) to get it to alarm 10/10 times.
