Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant is planning to perform underwater plasma cutting of their steam dryers for replacement in the dryer storage pit. For previous steam dryer modifications an underwater dive barrier (fence) between the cavity and the dryer separator pit was used but am interested in what methods other sites have successfully used to alleviate the need for a physical dive barrier (fence)".
In addition to the barrier, the diver was also restrained by a full-body harness with a lifeline and limited air hose to preclude travel outside the dive area.
