Michael, Duke Energy does most calibrations in house by a centralized calibration laboratory with a few exceptions.
RP survey instruments (ion chambers, air samplers, GM? All portable survey meters are done in house at central calibration laboratory except for neutron meters. These are performed by Ludlum Measurements and all records are archived by the central calibration laboratory. We also calibrate all 6 sites air sampling equipment in house which is done at each site by the central calibration laboratory personnel that travel to the sites. Whole Body counters? Split. Four sites have Canberra calibrate the Whole Body Counters and twos sites still doing in house. I believe all are moving to the outside contract this year provided by Mirion - Canberra. Personnel contamination Monitors? Performed in house by center calibration laboratory personnel that travel to the 6 sites to perform the work. (Includes PM's major repairs and calibrations). Electronic Dosimeters(SRDs)? Performed in house by a central dosimetry laboratory located in the same location as the central calibration laboratory for portable instruments. Low background counters (Tennelecs)? Currently performed in house at each site by site personnel. I assume this will remain in house at each site for now. Duke Energy does not provide calibration services for outside companies except for some limited ED/TLD support. I do not know what we charge for these services.
