Susquehanna response:

  1. The PA Department of Environmental Protection/Bureau of Radiation
Protection does deploy environmental dosimetry alongside some of our monitoring
locations. I do not believe it is every location, but I do not know the total
# of locations off the top of my head.
  2. We previously had a radio transmission based perimeter monitoring system
designed by Apantec that contained energy compensated GM tubes that were
calibrated over a range of urem/h to 1 R/h. The system has been retired in
place, mainly due to a combination of aging components failing, system
instability, inadequate vendor support, and the adoption of new EALs that no
longer utilized the system for emergency classification/escalation.

Subject: Re: [Powernet] Offsite Direct Radiation Monitoring

Good morning all, I sent this note last week and didn't see any responses. Can
someone please let me know if it got out there? Appreciate any input, even if
negative. Thanks, Eric Goldin

Subject: Offsite Direct Radiation Monitoring

San Onofre is interested in the participation in offsite radiation monitoring
by either your State or some other third party (e.g. local agency, county, etc.)
Questions:

  1. In addition to your REMP TLDs for direct radiation monitoring, do you
have dosimeters placed by the State? Yes/No Or by another third party?
Yes/No

  1. Do you have remote reading (wired or wireless) radiation monitors such as
the GM-based detectors that read down to the microrem/hr range (e.g. Mirion
Perimeter Monitoring System or Thermo RadHalo)? If so, who owns/runs them and
receives the data? Any data available online?
