At SNC we do not do a cost vs benefit evaluation on temporary shielding packages. We do a dose received to install/remove Vs. dose saved for the installation. Do you install the shielding if the calculation determines that there is a cost benefit, no matter what that cost benefit is? Cost vs benefit is only performed for permanent shielding installation. The cost vs. benefit is not realized it would not be pursued. If you do not install shielding just because there is a cost benefit, what threshold do you use in $'s or mRem? $20K per person Rem saved is utilized for permanent shielding.
