We have used the standard 9 inch ball for many years, using the E-600 and the
ESP-1. One of the big changes has been going from the BF3 to He3 tube at 2 atm
which reduces the efficiency.

We have been testing the Ludlum 30-4 which has a smaller diameter ball and a
significantly lower weight.

I believe Ludlum has some data on their new remball on their website.

One of our staff here at LANL Clifford Fell will be presenting an LA-UR on the
Ludlum detector at the next HPIC meeting which will be sometime in April this
year in Las Vegas.

I have been carrying a 9 inch ball with the PNR-4 since 1967 and I would really
like to get something lighter.

Subject: [Powernet] What neutron survey meters are you using?

We are looking at replacing our neutron survey meters. I'm familiar with the
REM-500 and the Ludlum 12-4 (9" moderator) meters.

* What meter are you using?

*         Who calibrates it?

* What is your (and technicians) overall impression of this meter?

Thanks!
