Prairie Island is looking to ensure we have the best practice relative to our
implementation of Efficiency Bulletin 16-13, Perform Self-Briefs for Low
Radiological Risk Activities. If you have implemented EB 16-13 then please
answer the following:

1. Is self-briefing permitted during high maintenance periods, such as
refueling outages? If it is not then answer questions 2-6. Otherwise please
answer 6.

2. What level of work activities results in suspending self-briefing?

3. When do you "turn-off" the process and require "normal" contact with
RP for all work? E.g., one week before planned outage start; during ISFSI
campaigns.

4. When do you reinstate self-briefing?

5. How do you communicate significant changes in radiological conditions
in areas normally accessible for self-briefing; e.g. an increased dose rates
due to water/resin movement etc.

6. What is done to mitigate the increased potential for radiological
events? E.g. additional postings in areas where changes have occurred (crud
burst affected); reminders at RCA access of condition changes and the need to
check surveys.

I appreciate your responses to the above!
