Jerry Barber, DCPP uses NWT Corrosion product samplers models 100-B1, 100-BC1, and 100-BC2. All of them are similar except that the "BC" models have sample coolers. We maintain the following conditions for operation of these units. Sample temp <113F 1300 mL/min bypass flow (1000-1300 mL/min is acceptable on the Heater Drip Pump(HDP)) 100psig (40-100psig is acceptable on the HDP) 100 mL/min sample flow (90-100 mL/min on the HDP) These pressures/flow are checked every 24 hours.
All of our sample points (e.g., feedwater, condensate, and condensate polishers) have adequate flow. The HDP is the only one that has trouble getting the needed flow (hence the ranges for pressure/flow in the procedure), and is normally only used during startup. During normal plant operation we have 2 FW NWTs operating on each unit (condensate, condensate polishers and HDP are normally only used during and for a short while after startup). Regards, Tim Hewitt DCPP RP Engineer (but I was a Chemistry and RP Tech for 9 years and spent hundreds of hours on NWTs changing filters, doing maintenance, and even some procedure revisions) From: Powernet <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Barber, Jerry M via Powernet Sent: Wednesday, February 26, 2020 5:59 AM To: [email protected] Cc: Barber, Jerry M <[email protected]> Subject: [Powernet] Chemistry Question: PWR Secondary Corrosion Product Sampling with NWT Model 100-BC2 *****CAUTION: This email was sent from an EXTERNAL source. Think before clicking links or opening attachments.***** I know this is a chemistry question.. maybe you could forward for me to someone in Secondary Chemistry at your site??? Recommendations for the "correct" Listserver to post this to will work as well!! At Robinson we have these samplers performing continuous sampling of Feedwater and Heater Drains. Question is - Does your site have both a Pressure Requirement (> 50 psi) and a Flow Requirement (≥ 100 mL/min through sample line) for corrosion product sampling with this instrument???
