If yes, what is the > purpose > of having multiple projects ? > Cyril, I am not sure but it looks like John somehow works with Tom Riddle and that this is the same source for that bootable kernel bits that we have been waiting for. It will slide into the Polaris taskmap just fine http://polaris.blastwave.org/wiki/PolarisTaskMap and then we can continue to march forwards. I know that the Genesi people are still on board and just a few nights ago I was chatting with some people in the #OpenSolaris IRC channel that wanted onboard also. They want an ODW ( I was going to ship them mine ) and they want to jump onto the task map and also to port to MIPs ( great - another port! ). Since they were actual low level hardware people as well as an engineer from TadPole I took them at face value that they were more than just angry. They knew their way around JTAG debuggers and felt we could get our own and then single-step all the way through the code if need be. They were actually interested and wanted to see the Polaris project move forward on the Genesi ODW. The fact that the Genesi gear is open ( hence the name ) makes it a thing of beauty. The TadPole people seemed to know about the firmware already. We just need the bloody tools to start with and this thing : http://www.blastwave.org/articles/BLS-0055/polaris.jpg was like a carrot dangled in front of our faces that got delivered any time soon and next week and in a few days and we heard it all before. No one was happy and that was before this email suddenly appeared. I think that we still have the means to push forwards and the source code will be released and dropped onto the OpenSolaris site on Monday ( we shall see ) and then we can merge it into our SVN tree and start the process of review. We clearly need to go over every bloody line and get the boot process down to a fine art. I also seriously question the memory management architecture and perhaps you recall uzi? Well he got rif'ed but he wants to work on this also. He and I chatted about some hacks that needed to be done. We need to review all that code. Let's just stay true to ourselves Cyril and keep plowing forwards when we see the actual code. Also, we need to post some objectives and guide lines that allow us to stay on target. This is how the Blastwave project stays on its primary mission and never wavers, we follow a few strict rules about package standards. The homepage at http://polaris.blastwave.org/ needs to be updated with a "project constitution" or some such as well as the names of key people involved. Now, we need to find Tom Riddle. He is a key guy. And speaking of key guys where the heck is Guy Shaw and the documentation for what he did ? Dennis Clarke
