I think the latest release is still the one you have, we are still working on the new release, which should be out in the next month or so. Concerning grub2, the only thing that should influence it should be the fact that we now claim all memory upto 20MB or so, for the graphical fb8 mode on the emulated interface, but i think grub2 will survive this neatly. The ones i know are marco_g and one of the ibm guys, not sure if hollis or tgall or someone else. you can ask on the #grub irc channel if you want, or mail their mailing list.
