I am  against it. We lose all CVS history. It is not that urgent now.
If you really want to do this, move the init scripts away, they are only
two, and leave the event scripts in place.

CVS is a pile of shit, but we have to cope with it.

the init scripts (other than the generic powersave.init.in) belong into
distribution specific subdirectories anyway.
So i'd suggest an additional top-level directory "dists" with
subdirectories:

powersave/dists/
          dists/suse
          dists/ALTLinux
          dists/debian
          dists/fedora

you get it.
In this directory we can place the distribution specific files
(rcpowersave, powersave_logs => dists/suse, the ALTLinux adaptions =>
dists/ALTLinux) and clean up scripts. Also i think that powersave_logs
and restore_default_config etc. are well placed in $DOC/contrib/ but
this is my personal preference ;-)
