We could probably just exchange /etc/init.d/ with /etc/rc.d; at least on
SUSE this is a compatibility symlink. We'll have to check how other
distributions handle that, though. I think /etc/init.d is LSB, but OTOH
Slackware seems to be the last one not caring about LSB compliance too much :-(
