Thanks Stefan, I no longer get the kernel match problem with BOOT_LOADER="other". But when I powersave -U now, the log file shows "========we are going to sleep, preparing.========" and nothing happens at all.
Here is what I get with DEBUG=15: May 6 11:59:00 machine [powersave-set_disk_settings][5098]: DIAG: Process script for event daemon.scheme.change ID 3 May 6 11:59:00 machine [powersave-set_disk_settings][5098]: DIAG: laptop_mode already inactive, ignoring May 6 11:59:00 machine [powersave-set_disk_settings][5098]: DIAG: do remounts?: 'no', set noatime: '' May 6 11:59:00 machine [powersave-set_disk_settings][5098]: DIAG: /dev/hda does not support APM May 6 11:59:00 machine [powersave-set_disk_settings][5098]: DIAG: running /sbin/hdparm -M 254 /dev/hda May 6 11:59:00 machine [powersave-set_disk_settings][5098]: DIAG: script_return() invoked: event_id: 3, request: 0, text: execute_disk_settings finished May 6 11:59:05 machine [powersave-prepare_suspend_to_disk][5117]: DIAG: Process script for event global.suspend2disk ID 4 May 6 11:59:05 machine [powersave-prepare_suspend_to_disk][5117]: DIAG: script_return() invoked: event_id: 4, request: 4, text: 0 May 6 11:59:05 machine [powersave-prepare_suspend_to_disk][5117]: DIAG: script_return() invoked: event_id: 4, request: 4, text: 10|checking resume kernel May 6 11:59:05 machine [powersave-prepare_suspend_to_disk][5117]: DIAG: running kernel: '2.6.16-ARCH', (probably) booting kernel: 'vmlinuz26' May 6 11:59:05 machine [powersave-notify][5138]: DIAG: Process script for event The kernel version "vmlinuz26" in /boot does not match the running kernel version "2.6.16-ARCH".
