NOX is sort of an acronym for "Network Operating System". I think the S was changed to an X since "NOS" already had some usage for other things and since trailing "X"es are widely accepted in the world of operating systems. :) But the acronym has never really been a part of the story (despite the original NOX paper being called "NOX: Towards an Operating System for Networks"), and I don't think it was ever really spelled out explicitly. It's really always pretty much been a name of its own. So it probably wouldn't be too awkward if you didn't know what it stood for... I don't think you'd be the only one.
And POX is just a portmanteau for "Python nOX". -- Murphy On Mar 5, 2014, at 1:42 AM, Rizwan Jamil <u_r_wel...@hotmail.com> wrote: > Hi ! > > What do NOX and POX stand for? I am doing my masters thesis on SDN. It would > be awkward if I do not know their abbreviation. > > Regards, > Rizwan Jamil
