Pox has messenger and webservice components whereby other hosts can talk to it. However, mininet hosts normally only have dataplane interfaces, so they can't talk to the controller. There is probably a way to bridge mininet hosts to the control network, but I don't know of it offhand. The mininet-discuss list might be a good place to ask, though.
