Former GAM members 'high sea robbers' JAKARTA: The National Police has said it is investigating former GAM party members potentially involved in pirate activities in Malacca Strait. "We have arrested Abdul Gani -- or Irwansyah -- a former GAM commander in Pidie," National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam said Monday. "I think there are still many GAM members still involved in piracy so we're still investigating the case. "If we later find that any of them are involved, we will pursue them." Abdul Gani allegedly robbed a fishing boat three months ago in Malacca Strait. He was on a police "wanted list" for years, before National Police detectives shot and arrested him Sunday in Cirebon, West Java. Abdul Gani was in hospital at the National Police Soekanto Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. -- JP/13
