Call for papers ECE 2011
We invite you to submit a paper/abstract to the 6th International
Education in a Changing Environment Conference, Creativity and
Engagement in Higher Education, to be held at the University of
Salford from 6-8 July 2011. The program committee invites submission
of full papers and of abstracts for Pecha Kucha, workshop,
demonstration, performance or poster sessions.
The proposal accompanying each paper/abstract should indicate how the
work fits within one of the following three conference themes:
Social Media: exploring how social media can be used to facilitate,
engage, support or deliver learning.
Learning, Teaching and Assessment: offering insights into creative
ways of facilitating learning, teaching and assessment and enabling
engagement with students.
Networking and Partnerships: addressing engagement and creativity with
external partners. Partners may include a broad range of stakeholders
from other UK Universities, Schools and Colleges to international
partners, community groups, and employers. This may include research
in organisational learning and in work related learning.
Key dates are as follows:
· Full Papers in from authors 24 January 2011
· Abstracts submitted by 14 February
· Feedback to author before 13 April 2011
· Revisions back from author 9 May 2011
Full papers will be double blind reviewed and the conference committee
has arranged for a selection of the best papers to be published in a
special issue of PESTLHE: http://www.pestlhe.org.uk/. Special issues
of other journals are also under negotiation. Authors of submissions
that are not accepted as full papers will be offered another mode of
submission (see next paragraph).
We are keen to encourage abstracts in the spirit of Creativity and
Engagement in Higher Education, either in terms of content or
presentation. All accepted abstracts will be eligible for presentation
at the conference by Pecha Kucha, workshop, demonstration, performance
The following four keynote speakers have confirmed their participation
in the conference:
· Dr. Alec Couros, Associate Professor in the Faculty of
Education, University of Regina Canada
· Professor Glynis Cousin, Director for the Institute for
Learning Enhancement, University of Wolverhampton
· Professor Norman Jackson, Director of the Surrey Centre for
Excellence in Professional Training
SaSaul Nasse, Controller of BBC Learning.
Full details on submissions including guidelines for authors are

Decisions will be notified by 13 April 2011. International delegates
who need to make travel plans are encouraged to make early submissions
of full papers. We will notify you of whether or not your paper will
be accepted at least as an abstract within 6 weeks.
