Call for Participation: ICER "LIGHTNING TALKS"

Lightning Talk Application Deadline: June 17, 2012

ICER 2012 -- International Computing Education Research Conference
Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand
September 10-11, 2012
--------------------------------------------------

We invite submissions for the Lightning Talk session at this year’s International Computing Education Research Conference (ICER) to be held at Auckland University of Technology on September 10-11, 2012.

What is exactly is a Lightning Talk? Lightning Talks are short, strictly timed 3 minute presentations intended to further expand the ICER community and spark discussion among conference participants. The intent is for these talks to provide a venue in support of new ideas and newcomers to our community.

Potential benefits of giving a Lightning Talk include:

* getting feedback on a new idea for an empirical CS Ed project,
* getting a critique of a research design or data-gathering strategy,
* showcasing a tool or technique that hasn’t been fully tested,
* finding collaborators at other institutions, and
* inspiring good conversations among conference attendees

Interested presenters should prepare a brief abstract as a Word or PDF document containing the following information:

* Your name, as you wish it to appear in the program
* Your affiliation(s)
* An email address to which correspondence can be directed
* A project/talk abstract using a maximum of 300 words (including references, if used)

Abstracts should be submitted no later than June 17 to Brian Dorn via email at bd...@hartford.edu for consideration. Accepted abstracts will be made available on the conference website in addition to the presentations made at the conference.

Full details about the conference can be found at http://wp.acm.org/icer-conference/
