I boggle at calling these people software engineers. They appear to be, at best, what Ledgard and Tauer called in their book (that seems to have set the basic standard for naming conventions) P-sub-A programmers: people who think they are professionals but are still working in a very amateur way. I'm not basing my judgement on the name "Opportunistic Programmers" that was bestowed on them, but on statements like "want to program without having to understand", found in the CreateSetCall.pdf paper. -- The Open University is incorporated by Royal Charter (RC 000391), an exempt charity in England & Wales and a charity registered in Scotland (SC 038302).
