There was a discussion in the PPIG Doctoral Consortium last week about how to 
keep going with writing. By coincidence, today I happened across a quote from 
poet William Stafford about how to tackle writer's block: 

"Lower your standards and keep writing".

This and lots of the other advice that was offered in Brighton is echoed by 
professional writers: The quote from E. 
L. Doctorow (on page 2) hit a nerve!
