Salam, RM ----------------------------------- (Jakarta Post) Indonesia forms team to talk to Cemex, sticks to unit ownership JAKARTA (Bloomberg): The Indonesian government formed a five-member team to negotiate with a unit of Mexico's Cemex SA in a dispute over ownership of local cement maker PT Semen Gresik, though it said it won't budge on the main sticking point. The government hopes it can reach an agreement "in principle" by January, State Minister of State Enterprises Sugiharto told reporters in Jakarta late Saturday. Cemex Asia Holdings Ltd. is demanding Indonesia honor an agreement to sell a controlling stake in Semen Gresik after Cemex, the world's third-largest cement producer, bought a 25.5 percent stake in 1998. Indonesia's government wants to retain its 51 percent holding. The negotiating team is authorized to offer Cemex Asia six options, but lowering the government stake isn't one of them, Sugiharto said. "Indonesia's ownership in Gresik is not to be less than 51 percent, as demanded by the House of Representatives (DPR)," he said. The negotiating team will be led by Roes Aryawijaya, deputy minister in charge of Indonesia strategic industries.
