Continued freebies for illegals

Did you make up your mind yet about President Bush's Social Security
proposal?

Do you want some control over your future retirement or do you want to
rely on the government to take care of you?

Heads up! If Social Security faces financial problems in the near
future, look again at Medicare-Medicaid. Hold your breath.

While you've been distracted by politicians on both sides of the aisle
who don't have the courage to speak the truth or use the brains God
gave them at birth, the media, in their role as maidservant to the
status quo as perceived by liberals continue their barrage of
negativism:

 * The Bush plan will never work.

 * There's no problem  they're lying.

 * You'll end up with no money, dumpster diving and living in a box.

 * The stock market is just too risky.

Ultimately, the media conclusion is that the average American is too
stupid, too fearful, too dependent and too lazy to handle their own
finances. They think we're morons.

Funny how they support pension plans, mutual funds, IRAs and 401-Ks. I
wonder who they think participates in those investment choices?
Certainly not the "average" schlump whom they envisage receiving those
monthly Social Security checks.

While all this politically inspired moaning and wailing has been going
on, an announcement was made that perhaps just slipped past you.

Pity if you missed it, because you (we) all will end up paying for it
and the reality is that the tab will keep increasing. If you think
Social Security is in trouble, take a look at what began last week.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, as part of the 2003
Medicare law, issued guidelines under which hospitals can now charge
the federal government for their expenses in treating illegal aliens.
They'll be paid through Medicare, according to a specific distribution
system.

Sorry, I'm bothered by politicians who look for ways to pay for
illegals with taxpayer money instead of finding ways to return them
home and prevent more from arriving. Silly me.

Technically, it's a reimbursement system for hospitals across the
country which are required to provide emergency care. They're not
allowed to consider ability to pay, nor immigration status. A citizen
can get care and so can an illegal. With the millions of illegals
here, hospitals are being bankrupted because they must absorb the costs.

Need help? Show up and get it. Cut thumb, or kids with a cold? Fine.
Transplant? That's been done, too. It's yours, courtesy of local
taxpayers if it's a county hospital. If it's a private facility, they
eat it.

But at some point, money runs out. Emergency rooms and hospitals have
been cutting back or simply closing because of the mounting costs.
That's why hospitals bills are astronomical. Patients with money
and/or insurance get hit with the attempt to make up the deficit.

You go to the hospital for accidents or major health issues. Illegals
go to the emergency room for everything and they don't pay. You do.

The hardest impact has been in border states: California, Arizona, New
Mexico, and Texas, and big-city hospitals like those in New York,
Chicago and others.

Apparently the screams of fiscal pain were heard in Washington,
because this new program for shifting major financial responsibility
was put into the revised Medicare bill.

Under it, the costs of the hospital care will be passed on to the feds
who will reimburse using a percentage scheme based on the number of
illegals in each state.

Two-thirds of the money will go to that and the rest goes to medical
providers in the six states with the largest number of arrests of
illegals.

Getting the most this year alone: nearly $162 million just for
California, Arizona and Texas. That's big money.

With the feds paying out under Medicare, the money will come from
taxpayers all across the country. Even if your local hospitals aren't
heavily impacted, you'll pay through Medicare.

Politicians love it. They can go home and brag that the government is
helping with the added costs of illegals, but they'll leave out that
the money comes from each of us paying into the system.

This comes at the same time Congress is proposing, and working with
states, to cut Medicaid spending by $10 billion over the next five
years. How? Limit services and raise premiums and don't pass costs to
the states.

Oh, and don't forget the June agreement with Mexico to allow illegals
to receive upward of $340 billion in Social Security payments over the
next 20 years.

Where are the feds are going to get all this money?

Guess.
