Btw, I am too beautiful to be called "mas". Hehehe...

sejak berdirinya republik ini, agama, terutama Islam, kian mengental. Jumlah
rumah ibadah bertambah, kesadaran agamis bertambah, partai partai Islam makin
kiprah dipanggung politik, fatwa fatwa mulai bertebaran dihalaman negeri indah
ini..

Namun, bertambah baikkah moral publik? makin taat hukumkah bangsa ini? makin
meningkatkah kesadaran tingkat pendidikan dan intellektualitas anak bangsa?
makin bersihkah perilaku pelaku kehidupan publik, seperti mentri, anggauta
perwakilan hamba sahaya (ehh sorry rakyat), kehakiman, kejaksaan, bea cukai?
Kian bersihkah bangsa ini dari korupsi, kolusi dan nepotisme?

Berdampakkah akidah agama pada perwujudan keadilan sosial? pada kerukunan
kehidupan antar agama dan antar bangsa?

Atau sekedar asap mesiu dari bom dan pembakaran serta huru hara yang kian marak?

Benarkah?
Lantas bagaimana menjelaskannya dalam konteks
Indonesia? Apakah pengajaran Islam di Indonesia kurang
atau dihalang-halangi?? Ketika di setiap persimpangan
jalan kita diingatkan untuk selalu sembahyang (karena
ada mesjid ataupun langgar) dan kembali diingatkan
dengan tayangan azan maghrib di televisi? Buku-buku
Islam bisa ditemukan dengan gampang, juga anak-anak
sedari kecil sudah belajar mengaji. Lantas kenapa
benih-benih kekerasan masih tumbuh subur di negeri
ini?

Pemahaman agama yang salah berpotensi untuk
menciptakan kekerasan. Agama memang tidak mengajarkan
kekerasan. Tapi sulit sekali untuk tidak menuding
agama sebagai salah satu penyebab begitu banyak
persoalan di dunia ini. Agama begitu mudah untuk salah
ditafsirkan sehingga mudah juga untuk melegalisasi
tindakan apapun atas nama agama.

Seandainya orang-orang lebih mementingkan nilai-nilai
kemanusiaan yang universal daripada sibuk menjadi
"pembela" agamanya dengan menciptakan kekerasan baru.

It is wrong to think that misfortunes come from the east or from the west;
they originate within one's own mind. Therefore, it is foolish to guard against
misfortunes from the external world and leave the inner mind uncontrolled.
