rupiah dikabarkan menguat secara cukup berarti setelah BI menaikkan tingkat suku bunga juga "secara berarti". Jadi menguatnya rupiah sekarang ini merupakan "dampak positif" dari dicabutnya subsidi BBM, ataukah karena penaikan suku bunga oleh BI gitu lhoh ... ?

The rupiah has risen more than 17 percent from a four-year low reached on August 30 as Bank Indonesia raised rates three times and the government increased prices for subsidized fuel to narrow its budget deficit. "The rate increase is considered very supportive for the currency," said Ichiro Ikeda, a currency and commodities sales executive at JPMorgan Chase Bank in Tokyo. The rupiah rose 1.2 percent to 10,056 against the US dollar in Jakarta, the largest advance since September 9 and bringing its two-day gain to 2.4 percent. The currency may advance beyond 10,000 this week, Ikeda said. South Korea's won strengthened for a second day, reversing earlier losses, on speculation the country's exporters were taking advantage of the decline to convert dollar earnings into <their home currency. It rose 0.2 to 1,039.10 against the dollar, after earlier falling 0.3 percent to 1,044.30. The Taiwan dollar gained as foreign investors were net buyers of island's stocks for a fifth straight day. It rose 0.2 percent to NT$33.238. The Thai baht advanced 0.2 percent to 41.05, the Singapore dollar rose 0.1 percent to S$1.6919, and the Philippine peso was up 0.4 percent at 55.77.
