first, why are you comparing an APC and a tank?
two completely different classes of military
'hardware'?
one should have known what an APC ( Armoured Personal
Carrier ) really means.
by definition, this self-propelled "can box" is
only meant to carry infantry on the battlefield
to protect them from the attack of small arms,
or perhaps (in my opinion) also against anti-personal
mines < in the latter case, the APM might damage
the wheels of the APC, but at least the personnel
in the vehicle might survive >.
So, they usually only use light steel armour. I think
agaisnt a 120 mm gun of a Leopard, even the similar
vehicles produced by west countries such as
French VAB or the German MRAV wouldn't have a chance ...

note: I have another idea, P.T. Pindad should be able
to apply their armoured vehicle technology to
produce similar vehicles for civilian use,
such as for money-transport vehicles, usually
needed in banking community.
