 Exchanges4peace Petition Updates

Hi Kartono Mohamad,
The exchanges4peace petition is moving forward and spreading around the
world!
We are proud to announce the co-sponsorship of the World Association of Girl
Guides & Girl Scouts (WAGGS). WAGGS confirmed that they are very pleased to
promote the Peace Petition throughout their network and have created a link
to the Peace Petition from their "call to action for international peace
day” on their website.
China has now moved up to the #1 Signature Gathering Country

Through a strong push in the Chinese schools, China has collected to date 48
909 signatures. We are currently in the process of uploading these
signatures onto the website. This is a great accomplishment and we wish to
congratulate all the hard work that has gone into this effort. China’s work
in the schools has been exemplary. Honduras has also had success reaching
out to schools, gathering 300 signatures in one school alone!
If you would like to work to promote the petition in your school, please
click here to download the paper copy of the petition, please keep in mind
that these forms should be returned to us by Oct 10, 2007 by replying to
this e-mail and including it as an attachment. Schools that take on a
commitment to promote the petition and provide 500 signatures can be listed
as Supporters on the Peace Petition’s web page.

September 21st--International Day of Peace

Friday, September 21 is the International Day of Peace. On this day,
millions of people worldwide will in some way recognize the need to continue
working towards peace. It represents a wonderful opportunity for individuals
organizations and nations to create practical acts of Peace on a shared
date.
In 1981, on the 20th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly, a
UN resolution declared that the International Day of Peace "will serve as a
reminder to all peoples that our Organization, with all its limitations, is
a living instrument in the service of peace and should serve all of us here
within the Organization as a constantly pealing bell reminding us that our
permanent commitment, above all interests or differences of any kind, is to
peace. May this Peace Day indeed be a day of peace."
For creative ideas you can visit the International Day of Peace website www
cultureofpeace.org. We would like to encourage you to continue helping us
collect more signatures for this petition by sending personal notes to
people you know, inviting them to go to www.exchanges4peace.org and sign the
petition in support of a global expansion of youth exchange programs.
