*Japan to safeguard public from effects of magnetic fields* TOKYO, Oct. 22 KYODO *Japan'*s industrial safety agency will set up standards early next year to protect the public from adverse health effects of exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic fields that exist close to power lines and appliances whenever there are electric currents, officials said Monday. The measure, to be realized by revising an ordinance under the Electricity Enterprises Law, is designed to comply with World Health Organization recommendations in June to implement exposure limits against biological effects of low frequency electric and magnetic fields.
