*Iran, China ink four transportation MoUs*

Iran and China on Wednesday signed four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to
expand cooperation in the fields of road, railroad and marine transport.

Deputy Minister of Roads and Transportation for Planning and Transportation
Economy Hamid-Reza Behbahani and senior Chinese officials inked the MoUs.

The Iranian ambassador to China and a number of officials from ranian
Ministry of Roads and Transportation as well as senior managers of Chinese
companies took part in the ceremony.

According to the documents, the two countries are to expand cooperation in
the fields of airport services, freeway, railroad, port and shipping as well
as electrification of railways.

Behbahani told IRNA on the sidelines of the signing ceremony that the
government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is scheduled to increase economic
balance and trade volume between Tehran and Beijing to about dlrs 200
billion in a 10 year period.

He added that the studies indicate the share of transport industry will hit
over dlrs 50 billion in a decade.

Referring to the outcome of one-week visit by the Iranian delegation to
China, he said that they visited the cities of Shanghai, Tianjin and Dalian
and conferred with Chinese officials on the need to expand bilateral
relations particularly in transportation sector.

According to the deputy minister, the Chinese sides expressed their
readiness to invest in Iran.

Head of construction group of CITIC Company, one of signatories to the MoUs,
told IRNA that Chinese companies are ready to implement every project in
Iran.
