Ada satu perusahaan yang untung US$ 40 milyar padahal biaya investasinya hanya US$ 100 juta. Untung 40.000%! Para pengusaha minyak beralasan itu karena kenaikan harga minyak Internasional yang mencapai lebih dari US$ 100/barrel. Padahal pengusaha minyak seperti Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Unocal, dsb merupakan kartel yang mengelola minyak dari sumbernya, pengilangan, hingga distribusi di seluruh dunia termasuk Arab dan Indonesia (hanya Iran saja yang bersih dari perusahaan AS). Oleh karena itu ”Kenaikan Harga Minyak Internasional” tak lepas dari aksi kartel pengusaha minyak AS. Monopoli perusahaan2 minyak AS semakin bertambah besar setelah 2 negara penghasil Migas, Iraq dan Afghanistan jatuh dijajah AS sehingga migas mereka dikelola oleh perusahaan Migas AS. President Bush dan wapres Dick Chenney yang bergerak di bidang minyak semakin menambah kekuatan para pengusaha minyak AS. Harga minyak di AS yang membubung hingga Rp 10.000/liter membuat sebagian supir truk dan angkutan umum mogok karena kehidupan mereka bertambah sulit. The hearing before the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming convened Tuesday as gasoline prices hit an average price of 86 cents a liter ($3.29 a gallon) across the United States. The top companies together cleared $123 billion in profits last year, with Exxon reaping about one-third of that. Majority Democrats asked why such profitable companies need $18 billion in tax breaks, and why they do not invest more money in renewable energy sources, such as wind or solar. The executives say their profits are reasonable considering the huge size of their companies. They also argue that ending tax breaks will just make soaring oil costs hit consumers even harder.
