Gus Dur Tak Bisa Hadiri Undangan Pemerintah Israel
*Jakarta, gusdur.net* Presiden Israel Shimon Peres mengundang mantan Presiden KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) dalam perayaan 60 tahun Negara Israel di Yerusalem. Dalam suratnya, Peres mengundang Gus Dur sebagai tamu khusus dan narasumber dalam konferensi yang diselenggarakan Kantor Presiden Israel bertajuk *Facing Tomorrow*. Konferensi ini digelar di Yerusalem dari 13-15 Mei 2008. "Saya tidak ragu bahwa Anda adalah orang yang memiliki visi. Kami sangat menanti partisipasi Anda dalam konferensi ini," kata Simon Peres dalam surat resminya kepada Gus Dur pertanggal 6 Januari 2008. Menurut Peres beberapa tokoh dunia sudah menyatakan kesediaannya akan hadir. Seperti diberitakan *Associated Press* tokoh-tokoh yang dijadwalkan hadir adalah, Presiden AS, George W.Bush, Barbra Streisand, Tony Blair, Mikhail Gorbachev dan raja media, Rupert Murdoch. Termasuk diplomat AS kawakan Henry Kissinger, peraih Nobel, Elie Wiesel, mantan Presiden Cekoslovakia Vaclev Havel, Profesor Harvard Alan Dershowitz, pendiri Google Sergey Brinn, pendiri Facebook Markus Zuckerman, pimpinan Tata Group India Ratan Tata. Jutawan AS Sheldon Adelson. Gus Dur adalah satu-satunya undangan dari negara yang tidak memiliki hubungan diplomatik dengan Israel. Namun Gus Dur tidak bisa memenuhi undangan Presiden Israel tersebut. Alasannya karena pada 4 Mei 2008, ia harus bertolak ke Amerika Serikat. Dijadwalkan, Gus Dur akan menghadiri upacara penyerahan penghargaan dari salah satu organisasi non pemerintah di Negri Paman Sam itu.
