FAO envoy: Iran, most important country in region
The representative of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
in Near East said on Wednesday that Iran is the most important member state in
Regional Commission for Fisheries in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea regions.
Iran plays a key role in development of fisheries in Near East, Piero Manini
told IRNA on the sidelines of a regional training workshop.
Holding regional training workshops would be great opportunity for scientific
development of fisheries and for this reason FAO has planned to hold different
training workshops in regional countries, Manini said.
He added that Iran has considerable potentials in the field of fisheries.
More than 40 managers and experts on fisheries from Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia,
UAE and Oman are attending the workshop.
The 3-day regional training workshop on fisheries opened on on April 15 and
will continue until April 17.
